Chasing Summer in Autumn

Some projects ask you to capture a feeling. This one asked us to chase it, literally, across a border.

Styling and creative direction for the Batz x Réka Vágó campaign shoot was one of those projects that sounds simple on paper and turns into an adventure the moment you start planning it. The brief was a summer campaign. The calendar said autumn. Somewhere between those two facts, we packed our bags and went looking for the sun.

We found it in Trieste. Two full days on the Italian coast, racing daylight rather than a deadline, trying to bottle the exact light and ease of summer before the season let go of it completely. There's something thrilling about working against the calendar like that, building a moodboard around warmth and bare shoulders while the rest of the world is reaching for jackets.

Building the moodboards and shaping the styling gave the shoot its direction, but getting an entire team, their accommodation and their travel to a different country on time and ready to shoot the second the light was right was its own kind of choreography, the part of creative direction that happens off camera.

On camera, the story was simple and easy to fall for: slippers and sandals, a straw bag, and the kind of days summer is actually made of. We shot by the sea with sailing boats drifting behind, and again in the city, so the styling could speak to wherever summer takes you, a boat deck, a coastal walk, a stroll through town. The idea was never to sell a shoe. It was to show the customer that these are the accessories already waiting in every version of their summer, no matter which one they choose.

What stayed with us most was the team. Two days, one mission, and a group of people who chased the same light we did, until summer was safely captured, just in time for autumn to take over.
